Belt colors and ranks are different for kids and adults. Every promotion at RGA Frisco is merit-based, and free of charge.

Students receive one stripe per month, as long as they keep up with the minimum attendance of two classes per week. To qualify for a new belt, the student must have received all stripes and be at the eligible age.
A child earns one stripe per month as long as they keep up the minimum attendance of two classes per week. Miss the attendance and the stripe waits.
Every stripe on the current belt, the eligible age for the next one, and a test. Yellow starts at 7, orange at 10, green at 13.
Six months at ages 3 and 4, then roughly a year at each belt from age 5 onward. A child who trains steadily for years is exactly on schedule.
Time in belt is a minimum, not a guarantee. Technique, effort, attitude and how a child treats training partners all weigh into the call.
Stripes, belts and tests are free of charge. Nothing about a promotion is for sale, so a belt always reflects what your child can do.
The path is measured in years, not months. Comparing your child to a classmate promoted sooner is the fastest way to take the fun out of it.
The official International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) ranking system shows the minimum time required to achieve the promotion for each belt, but the actual graduation will be decided by the Head Instructor.
